New hyundai elantra or one year old elantra and loose powertrain warranty,but still retain remainder of 5/60 ?

I'd be paying considerably less for a used(2007) model with around 20 k on it.

  1. That extra 5 years/40K miles of powertrain warranty is worth under $500 (IMO), also you can buy extended warranties on any used car just about.  20,000 miles is nothing for a modern car, heck it hasn't even had its 1st major service yet, so if you can save $3000+ by going the used route then that is the smart way to go...should cover your insurance and maybe gas for the 1st year right there.


  2. If you are not the original owner, the powertrain goes back to match the bumper to bumper warranty.

    For example -

    New Hyundai = 10 year, 100K powertrain and 5 year, 60K bumper to bumper.

    Used Hyundai = 5 year, 60K powertrain and bumper to bumper warranty.
