New iPod Classic Messed Up I Think, Help Please??

Well, i got my iPod for my birthday in Feb, and recently, it has started playing up.

At first it had a few error like: Unknown Error (-48), Unknown Error (-53). Which i was able to fix by doing a restore, which then sadly last 16GB of music =\.

Then after i restored it, i added aload of my music on again, this time, about 2GB just to see if it would have the errors, thats when i realized they had gone.

Then i went to play some music, and this is where the problem comes.

Out of the 300 odd songs i have on my iPod, i can only play around 100 of them. The other 200, when selected, either end up making my iPod freeze/crash, then i have to do a reset. Another problem, when selecting a song which iPod doesnt wish to play, the iPod will just skip through the song, like you have pressed the 'Next' botton, although you havent, and will skip through the album within a matter a seconds. And there are more things that happen.

Things i have tried:

1)Restroing iPod (Try this about 10 times per day.)

2)Converting the .MP3 files to a .ACC files (because .MP3 files can become whats known as "broken".)

3)Downgrading the software back down to version 1.1.1, then updating again. Then just a downgrading, with no update after.

4)Installing alternative firmware onto the iPod, Which i found didnt work, because they dont have correct one for my iPod Classic.

5)I have also let the battery drain, then connected it up, then done a restore again.

6)Sent it off to Apple, and they said there was nothing wrong with it when they sent it back. But then i tried it again, and it was still not working correctly.

I have no other idea what i should do, please help me or give me on some advice on what i should do.

Thanks

  1. That's the problem with a hard drive memory; it gets messed up.

    Here's how to fix it:

    1. Configure iTunes to enable Disk Use on the iPod and to NOT start iTunes when you connect the iPod.

    2. Shut down iTunes and eject the iPod

    3. Reconnect the iPod, run Disk Utility / Repair Disk. This finds lots of errors.

    4. Start iTunes and everything runs just fine. I can change settings, add contents, delete content, click Apply etc.

    5. When done, eject the iPod, remove the cable and close iTunes

    6. Reconnect the iPod, run Disk Utility / Repair Disk. Again, will find lots of errors.

    7. Eject iPod

    8. iPod should now work fine.

    9. When you want to resync, start again from 3 (you may not find any errors though as you ran a Repair Disk is step 6).

    ------------

If it doesn't work, try this alternative way:

    - Plug iPod into computer

    - Ignore the error messages

    - Go to My Computer

    - Find your iPod's drive letter (usually G)

    - Right-click on it and select Properties

    - Go to Tools Tab >Error-checking and select Check Now

  2. Just scrap it and get a new one. You have tried everything in the book. Even Apple can't find the problem more or less solve it.
