  1. There are just two people named "Recell" on the SSDI. This is yours:

    RECELL PORTERFIELD

    b. 07 Dec 1919

    d. Oct 1984

    LR 29205 (Columbia, Richland, SC)

I could not find anyone named "Recell" or "Racell" in the 1920 or 1930 census.

If is is worth $27 to you, look her up again on

    http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/...

Click on "SS-5", print the letter, enclose the check, send it off, wait 6 - 8 weeks. You'll get her SSN application with her parents' names (mother's maiden) if she knew them. People usually put their parents' legal names on the application. "Neelie" could be short for any number of names, or "Nelly".

Recell may be hiding out under her father's surname and her middle name on the 1920 or 1930.

  2. It is need to start with Recell.  I looked for her in the social security death index, in order to determine her birth and death dates, but was not able to find her (or anyone at all with the spelling of Portfield.

This is needed to estimate or know when Neely was born.  I did locate a Cornelia Johnson born in 1925 (Neely can be a nickname for this), but cannot know if she is the right person without some dates.  There are Cornelia Johnsons who died in South Carolina.. but not in 1952, and not born in 1925.

We need specifics for Recell.  It would be good if you have access to her death certificate, but burial place, date of death.. any will help to narrow it down.
