Question:

New irons help please?

Hello all. I am an OK golfer, considering I only play every few weeks or so.

I would like to upgrade my irons from the 'off the rack' box store ones I have been using for 6 or so years to something a little better in the game improvement/forgiveness range without spending a fortune.

Please provide some middle priced brand sets that I could look for or some features (Higher MOI etc) that these clubs should have.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

  1. Best to look in Golf Galaxy or Golfsmith at the used club section.  There you could get Gallaway X-20s or Pings or something like that top of the line, and great game improvement at a tremendous discount over new clubs.

  2. I bought my Titleist AP1's for $500 on eBay.

  3. well since u play ever week or so then dont buy something expensive unless you are going to start playing a lot. I say around 500 to 600 is good, maybe idk. buy some used clubs maybe

  4. BRAND NEW NICKENT 3DX GOLF 9 PIECE GRAPHITE IRON SET cost about $229.99

  5. Mizuno. taylormade, or callaway. NIke clubs are for better players. I say mizuno all the way. MX-25

  6. I went to Golf Galaxy to try the Ping G5 New Iron sets in the launch monitor and I saw this guy trade-in his Callaway BB Iron Sets 06(Graphite) for $250. So I ask the saleman if I can try it in the launch monitor and I'm hitting it 20 yrds more than the G5. I bought the Callaway for $299. Went home happy.

  7. I bought a set of Nicklaus Golden Bear clubs a few years ago.  The woods have graphite shafts, the irons are cavity back steel shafts.  I think I paid about $400 for them.  Not bad clubs.  You might find some deals that interest you below.
