  1. I have a Page-A-Day Cranium calendar on my desk.  Every day it gives new puzzles/activities to do either solo or with other ppl in the office.  Extremely entertaining.

Also, if you want to spark "interesting" conversations you could put up a poster of Hitler/Stalin/Hussein/George W. Bush.

Actually, you could make your own and print inspirational/motivational posters.  They can be very funny and won't offend as many people as Hitler/Stalin/Hussein/George W. Bush.  Check out this link: http://diy.despair.com/motivator.php

Good luck and have a great day!

  2. A big huge desk calender, family photos, a mini ipod dock, a rubics cube, a 3d framed photo to study, that may be enough.  Too much stuff will scream boredom.

  3. stuffed wombat,  picture of the vp in a camo picture frame, lava lamp?

  4. flowers, ikebana arrangements, some favorite books and art albums, some photos with beloved persons...

all these will make your space more appropriately and friendly to you

  5. Houseplants.  They increase humidity and they produce negative air ions (anions) which have positive effects.  They fight positive ions (cations) which have negative effects--they are thought to cause fatigue, irritability, and upper respiratory problems.

Green leafy plants also seem to reflect light.  A group of them is like an oasis.  If your office light is florescent you will need low-light plants like peace lily and golden pothos.  Keep them in clay pots, make sure the soil drains well and water and mist regularly.
