New kenmore dishwasher and it

Question

new kenmore dishwasher and it is sitting too low there is a quarter inch at hole at the top of the dishwasher under the counter. It seems to be tight in the space; can we cut off the metal bracket that screws in under the counter. That way we can raise the dishwaster the quater inch. I think it is tight enough not to move around without the top screws. What is your opinion?
