I visited this shelter, and there was this cutie with a missing paw ;( but he could still run and jump so its all good. And hes about 6-8 weeks old. He was playful in his cage but soooo calm when I picked him up. He attitude was just calm and comfy.

I am just confused. That's all. I love his personality, I just never known a kitten who could just be picked up and not get anxious or anything. Have you had this experience, or is this normal for all cats or just some breeds or what?

Note: I am definitely adopting him, picking him up tommorow!

  1. I rescued Rocky from the woods when he was 6 weeks old. He had to be quarantined for over a week till his eye infection cleared up but he never ran or hid from me. In fact, he purred as soon as soon as I got him home and within a few minutes he was rolling over for tummy rubs. Even when he got to come out with the other grown cats, he just fit right in and made friends right away. I have never had such an easy integration with a cat and especially one who was supposed to be feral. We got lucky. Our kitties picked us. Love that you are saving this little guy! Best of luck with him!

  2. I think the kitten was calm when you picked him up because he somehow sensed that you're a good person and he just felt completely comfortable with you -- that's a REALLY good sign!  That's just how my kitty was with me, too, when I first got her from an animal shelter.  With all the chaos and noise of so many other animals there (which was probably really stressful for her), she was completely calm as soon as I picked her up.  That's how I knew that she wanted to be with me as much as I wanted her.

  3. i think that it is wonderful that you are getting the one that is "different".

It was probably just because the kitten smelled new smells on you, and it was just not used to you yet.

i wish you and your new kitten the best of luck! :)

  4. my kitty was very calm when I got her. Dont worry, cats have different personailitys!

  5. Cats all have different personalities. My boyfriend has a cat who is constantly crazy while i have one that is very clam. just depends.

  6. Sounds like a wonderful kitten. Don't worry he will probably be more active when he gets home. Some kittens aren't as active as others at first.

When we went to adopt one of our kittens, my husband picked up one kitten who was calm and relaxed and fell asleep in his hands. I picked the one that was rambunctious and climbing all over me. lol We ended up bringing the rambunctious one home and I love her to death, she is now

    12 years old.

Good luck with your new kitten!!

  7. some kittens just get shy when being held and some are just that way where the minute you pick them up the fall asleep.

  8. aww , he sounds really cute , and yeah , lol he probably liked you , i'm getting a kitten tomorrow , and the owners described him to be just as calm as that little guy , = ) ~ carmelicious ~

  9. Cats have a sixth sense of who loves them. And he loves you, too!

  10. Some cats are like that. Their personalities are all different. My old cat who died recently (sniff sniff) we picked up when I was 2 1.2 and she sat on my knee perfectly happy and calm all the way home. She was playful but she was mostly interested in being close to me and liked being patted. The other cat we still have was the total opposite. Absolutely crazy kitten, bounced off the walls, caught hundreds of birds, got stuck up trees and rooves almost every week, was a nightmare, even got stuck in the roof space once when we were having renovations done. I volenteered at a shelter too and the personalities do vary. Some kittens and cats you cam pick up and all they want to do is snuggle and look up at you with their furry faces, some are nervous and some are so full of energy they hate being held too long, I even cared for one that would leap from it's enclosure at you, so you would open the door and suddenly this furry body and claws would launch at me and attatch itself to my chest and would purr and butt my chin, was lovely and affection but a bit dangerously over the top!!
