bought a new laptop with vista basic preinstalled, while others like vista i hate it and comet told me if i uninstall vista and replace with xp pro mse it will invalidate my warrentee, now all the restore info was kept on the HDD and the cheap skates at fujitsu siemens put a make your own restore disk method into the system which i have done.

but is there a way to extract all the vista files from my hdd so i can make a full vista installation disc. i seem to remember doing this years ago with win 98 but cant remember how.

thanx

  1. people aren't afraid of "upgrading" their cars and clothes every few months/years but their OS... oh well.

just find a friend with a vista disk. you legally have a license to run vista so i don't think it'll be against copyright laws to get a copy of the os you're running.

  2. Almost 2 years later and there are still morons that downgrade a brand new computer!!!! Look at the calendar guy,it is not 2002 anymore.

  3. I agree with you ...XP is better than Vista. Would it be easier just to buy a new harddrive and remove your old one? lt's not hard to replace a laptop harddrive and you could just put XP on that one instead.

    Just a thought....
