New neighbors...help please!?

We live in a town home community. Each house in our complex has a different # of parking spaces in front of their house. We specifically asked when we moved in here how the parking spots are determined. Our agent and the homeowners assc both say that you can park within your color house (each house is a different color). Well in our case we can fit both of our cars within our color of house and NOT block their walkway. Our new neighbors are unlucky and can only fit 1 car in front of their house (within their color). They have 2 SUVs and a car. They are constantly parking in front of their walkway and half of their car is within our color (essentially in our driveway). Today we waited til they left and parked both of our cars in our driveway and we heard them saying "If we cant park here then they cant either". How should we handle this? We own our home and will be here awhile and dont want this constant problem with the parking spots. Should we contact our agent or our association?

  1. I would contact the association and tell them your problem. Sounds like they need to have allocated parking spots. Also, I feel bad for you. Sounds like your neighbors are going to be jerks!

  2. If I was you I would go to the association. I don't see where the agent can do anything. From experience though I don't think the association can or will do anything. Grin and bear it

  3. yeah just contact your agent if they are someone who will get the job done, basically that is illegal

  4. Well, you should do the friendly thing and bring your new neighbors a housewarming gift and introduce yourself.  Then a few days later, go over and have a friendly discussion with them.  Explain the situation and politely ask them not to block your driveway.  If that does not work, then contact the association.

  5. Contact the association and have them reiterate the rules to the idiots next door. Don't be too mean to the neighbors they get enough abuse filling those two cars! hehe at least you can chuckle about that. Also you can have them towed if they want to play nasty. Good luck and I hope the association will do something about it!

  6. yes u guys should cuz then sooner or later u guys will be argugin over parkin spaces & figthin to see who gets it frist & it will get outta hand

so just contact the agen tor so & so & talk wit ur neighbor & firgure it out

  7. Ugh! I'm moving to a TH on July 18th, we have two assigned spaces right in front, but I can tell that the visitor parking is an issue, I plan to park in the visitor section when i know I'll have a guest and let my guest park in front of my TH.  I have been spoiled at my house with a small driveway and street parking.  I also have had great neighbors and a neighbor with a dog issue so I am anxioius about new neighbors that will be so close.  I would try to get the HOA to address the issue and avoid conflict w/ the neighbor as much as possible. When I had the attack dog next door, I felt so much stress over not getting along w/my neighbor over it, I was so glad when she moved.  I am hopeful that the neighbors at my new place are nice and quiet.  Good luck to you!!!
