New netgear wireless but cannot connect?

can anyone help me?my friend gave me her netgear wgr614 so i can use my laptop wireless arround my house but im trying to set it up and its not working. im currently connected to it with an ethernet cord cos thats the only way its working right now.i tried using my ipod touch to see if it will work and it is but the laptop is not working.what do i need to do or what do i need to set up to make it wireless. by the way my laptop is toshiba and its windows vista. please be specific with directions cos i get real confuse. thanks

Make sure that the wirelss on your Laptop is enabled, if your not sure how to do this look for the wireless button somewhere around your keyboard and press it, or go to control panel > Netwrok and Sharing center > select manage network > right click on the wireless and slect enable.
