I love m&m's and I bought a brand new package and I noticed that some of them have this white substance on it. The candy shell isnt white, it has llike little white particles on it-that are greasy when touched. Is this sugar or something? Maybe forming b.c. its hot out? Anyone know what this is or have you seen this before??

  1. It actually could be part of the candy shell.  M&Ms have the chocolate, etc. at the center and then it's a white coating followed by the colored shell.  So try eating just a half of one and you'll see what I mean!  It could be that they had a slight manufacturing problem that let some of the white powder loose.  It's certainly not going to harm you.  Normally, heat causes the regular chocolate to get a graying white cast which is also harmless.

  2. I love M&M's too! And yes alot of the time during summer there are those little white particals on them. I would have to say because of the weather. But it is harmless.

  3. They have a new "Premium" line with gourmet flavors. Yes, more expensive, less product but aren't they pretty!

  4. Is it the white chocolate M&M's that you got?  It's a new variety they have out.
