    Under the proposal, the teams that  finishing fourth to seventh in the Premier League would meet in a single week of single-leg fixtures to determine who would be granted a spot in the Champions League qualifiers. At the moment, the proposal is just an idea, but if it proves popular with the clubs involved it could be used in the future.
