The riverThere was once a river I knewGlinting light danced in its gazeA place where I rested my feetSmooth like the strands of a babeDrifting like wood on its currentAs storm clouds shadowed the dayMy reflection a welcome occurrenceBleeding cobalt splashing in greyStorms often punished the surfaceOthers waded into its shoresDredging the muddling sediment It wasn’t the same anymoreWaters grew shallow from prospectPaths became uneasy to treadFitting days of a deep blue oasisReplaced by a vacuous riverbed There once was a river I knewCallous stone left me to bleedAll that is left is a voidSadness is all that I see
