  1. it depends on the pony you are riding.

pony club pony-they are probably going to be looking for a well mannered/well roudned pony with good manners and doesnt hesitate

top score- i believe this is a little more competitive.

working hunter- you have room for a couple mistakes hence "working" hunter

never heard of handy pony, but im taking a wild guess and saying its like a bombproof/dead beginenr type class.

i would do pony club pony, judges are usually more open and judge more open mindedly. It's kinda more laid back.

    good luck!

  2. Handy pony: a fun class - you have to do things like ride your pony under a washing line, post a letter from onboard, sometimes they put in a jump with a tarpaulin over it, etc etc. It's like an obstacle course of semi-spooky situations, to test how willing your pony is and how he copes with odd things. Don't enter if your pony is very spooky! Otherwise, it's great fun.

Pony Club pony: they're looking for a good allrounder, a pony that's good off the leg but also has good brakes. Conformation is not crucial, but it does help. It's more important that the pony is well mannered and looks after his rider. A lot of PCP classes have a small jump.

Working Hunter pony: this is what I used to live for! :)  There will be a course of jumps - usually 8-12. The spacings will not be difficult and there shouldn't be any tight turns like in show jumping. The course should ride quite smooth, and the jumps will be rustic poles with trees / bushes / straw bales, to simulate hunting. You'll be judged on your pony's style of jumping, as well as on technical scores. If you jump clear (or, in some cases, even if you don't) you'll then go on to the conformation judging, where you'll do a short individual show. Looks matter for WHP. The judge is looking for a pony who'd do a day's hunting, and has good conformation and a willing attitude.

Top score... I don't know. I'd presume that they were running the whole show as a performance class, and you'd get points for competing in different classes, with more points for doing well.
