Question:

New pool leaking, pool company can't seem to repair leak?

We have a new in-ground, saltwater, vinyl liner pool. It's not even 2 months old. It's been leaking almost from the 1st week full. The pool company has been back weekly to attempt to repair it. The leak apparently was/is in the light conduit. They've puttied, covered with fiber glass, caulked and we're still leaking....3/4 inch in 15 hours, with the pool turned off. We don't have a heater. Any suggestions on what should be done next? I would love to be able to sound as though I know what I'm talking about with the pool company owner. Thanks!!!

  1. you could put on a mask and try squirting some red PH solution around light to see if the leak is still there if it is,it will suck it up maybe you need a leak detection company to come out?: http://www.swimming-pool-information.com...

  2. You don't have a pool/leak problem you have a legal problem.  I'll bet a saltwater pool with underwater lighting was a serious investment.  If it were me, I'd pay the ~$200 bucks and talk to a lawyer.  The advice could be invaluable if you do need to pursue the matter legally

  3. Did you get a warranty/garantee with the pool? If you did you have the right to "A replacement pool" or "Your money back". This purchase is "Damaged Goods" and you are entitled to have them replaced. So go to where you bought the thing, and request that they replace the damaged pool they sold you and replace it, or alternatively, demand your money back. Personally, I would not let them near the pool again, as they have already made several attempts to repair it and FAILED. For me It's a new pool, or my money back, or I take the company to court. Have a 5 minute chat with some legal people, and tell the company what you have done..

  4. Many times the pool leaks from the conduit.  But almost never on a new pool.  The reason being, there is no way to winterize the light conduit and it is just a matter of fact that water gets behind the light (like it should) but then freezes and expands.  However, on a new pool, my guess would be a leaky liner.  We have replaced a few of those in the last couple years.  Pay close attention to a funny looking seam.

What state are you in?  Have they pressure tested?

  5. being a pool company owner i would think that company would have redone all around the light by now

  6. If they can't repair it, ask for a full replacement
