New puppy and a year old cat? I think they sometimes get along..what do you think?

Sammy ( my year old cat ) was just introduced my 3 month old puppy .

Sammy seems to get on the ground and look at him all the time and sometimes chase him. My puppy nips at him and Sammy cries. Sammy has never hissed or cried before untill the puppy came around.

Will they get along someday? Are they playing now?

The puppy always messes with him and he could get up on the bed or couch where he can't reach but he doesn't.

If you think the puppy is being too rough, get a water pistol or water spray bottle and give him a blast of water when misbehaving.   If possible, could you block off some of your house so the cat can get through, but not the dog, this will give you cat time out

i had the same thing happen. my cat was 2 when i got my dog. she HATED her! my calm cat turned into a demon for like 3 weeks until she got used to her. I just made sure i gave them time apart sometimes (cat in one room and dog in other) but they eventually settled into each other now they play together. i didnt think the day would ever come but it did. :) goodluck to you ..im sure theyll get used to each others personality..

They're still "Young Enough" so that they could become Friends by & by... Keep an Eye on them, watch how they Interact, -& keep your fingers crossed! :)
