i bought a puppy 2 weeks ago and when the cat first saw him he hissed and ran away( i thought this was normal)

b4 the we had the puppy my cat was used to being the top cat(in other words i spoiled him to death) i am not replacing the cat and i spend as much with him as i do the dog but it would be nice if i could play with them together but whenever the cat sees the dog he runs away which makes the dog chase him (the dog is a dachshund mix and it's in his nature to chase right/) we have had the dog 2 weeks now and it isn't getting any better the puppy is 3 months and the cat is 2 years

does anyone ave any suggestions for making peace with my animals

thx so much!

  1. weeel.... you are doing pretty well, considering you give them bothe the same amount of attention, but maybe you can train your dog not to chase cats? that might help a little. and if your ct runs away, maybe you can leave him alone so he can get over it, and when he wants attention again, then play with him... maybe trying to play with them both at the same time would help?

    hope this helps!

  2. Give it time. Also, you need to teach the dog to leave the cat alone and respond commands such as "stop" and "stay". They may never get along, but the dog should not be allowed to torment the cat.

  3. THAT IS BECAUSE FRANK IS STUPID AND GEORGE IS SMART AND SO ARE U HAHAHAHAH

  4. you should put the puppy in a cage in the same room and then let the cat get used to the dog hope i helped
