  1. I have a 13 week old chocolate lab.  I was told not to take him around where other dogs may have been until he had his second set of shots.  He got his second set of shots at 12 weeks (last weekend) so I can start taking him for regular walks now.  While we were waiting for him to get old enough for his second shots we didn't want to take any chances so we walked him on a leash in our back yard so he could still get used to walking on the leash.  He loves to go lots of places with us and walk on the leash so this worked out great for us. Congratulations on your new puppy and good luck.

  2. You can walk your dog, but keep it on a leash and away from other dogs. Make sure it does not com in contact with any other animals fecal matter or a dead animal on the side of the road. His immune system is not very strong yet, so you want to protect him from anything that might carry bacteria or a virus.

  3. Of course you can take him on a walk. Just be sure he is comfortable enough at home, you wouldn't want to overwhelm him! When he is around other dogs, hold him at first while they sniff each other, if they are good with each other, set him down!

    good luck and congrats!

  4. Only ten weeks old so it wont need a big walk Take it for a short walk and keep it away from other dogs. Should be fine.

ps please give me a best answer so i can vote on other peoples

  5. he still needs booster shots!

  6. I wouldn't take it anywhere were you KNOW other dogs have been. The puppy could still get sick because it hasn't had all of it's shots yet, just it's first round of shots. The puppy will need several more before it's ok to be fully socialized around other dogs.
