Question:

New rider, "breaking in" horse?

My boyfriend's dad has two horses, one which is exceptionally conditioned to his every move, the other, who is older, who is fat and often ignored. After expressing interest in riding this horse, hes going to teach me to ride him. If i constantly/consistently ride him, will he become accustomed to my riding style and be suited for me?

  1. With you as its only consistent rider, the two of you should become very good together.  It will understand what you're asking since you're the one teaching it.  The only thing is that if it's not very broke and you're inexperienced, you could have difficulty.  However, since your boyfriend's dad is teaching you, he should be able to see how well you ride and he'll know if you can handle the horse, so you guys shouldn't have any problem.

Being the only rider of a horse makes a neat connection between you and the horse.  He will be very responsive to you after you've been riding him for a while.

  2. You didn't pinpoint which horse you're interested in?  I think either horse as long as they have the good riding skills in the first place should be able to adapt to it just might take the smaller horse longer
