Question:

New small water ring around bathroom ceiling vent (fan powered) with H20 drip from time to time

I have H20 dripping a bit - stops, but appears intermittingly from 1st floor bathroom vent (powered fan vent). The kids 2nd floor bathroom is right above the 1st floor bathroom. I can see no leaks of H20 on kids bath floor, and no H20 leaks under kids' toilet or sinks. House is 3 yrs old. Now have a small 3" H20 mark in ceiling around vent on one side. Any ideas? Thanks!!!

  1. there are three things that could be causing the water drip.

A: someone has the window open during AC is running during the night

         hot and cold causes water

B: or you have a leak or breakage in your plumbing because your vent is close to your plumbing

C.your bathroom floor has water being tread after someone is taking a shower or bath, small puddles of water can be left on bathroom floor- behind after kids use shower or bath after leaving...

  2. it's a condensation drip that occurs when steamy air collects on the metal parts of the fan and drips off. Try dropping the fan cover down and applying a thin layer of caulking to it , then replace it. Try running the fan a couple minutes longer to expell all the moist air.

  3. It's probably condensation from the moist air in the vent.

    1. Try to run the fan a bit longer to dry out the vent.

    2. See if you can pitch the vent so the water runs to the outside.
