New sound system for my truck NEED help.

This is the stuff i picked out...

Head unit: Alpine 9887 or 9886 (not sure)

Subs: 2 10'' Type R 1042D 4ohm dual voice

Speakers: 2 6.5" Type-R SPR-17S (for the front)

Amp: 1 Alpine PDX 1.1000

My question(s) is will this amp be sufficient to run the two 10'' subs with out being too under powered, and should I get a Separate amp to power the Speakers?

Will I need a capacitor?

For the box should I go to best buy or another car audio shop and see if they can build a box for me that custom fits the back of my truck or buy a pre-built ported box I know that box is just as important as the components so I dont want to get a bad box.

I'm going for a nice Clean deep bass that can also hit hard, I listen to Rap/hip hop and rock.

This will be put into a 1997 Ford Ranger XLT.

Thanks for the help.

  1. I have the Alpine 9886 head unit and it is really nice, alot of customizable features.

As for the subs i have 2 12'' Type R 1242D dual 4 ohm voice coil, and they hit pretty hard.

I would say that would be plenty of amp to push the subs.

You don't really need a second amp for the speakers unless you want to have one,you can run them off the head unit.

As for the box if you can afford it go for a custom ported box,all though ported may be to big to fit behind the seat if so get sealed boxes.

Here is a link to a pair of sealed boxes pretty cheap,i have bought from them and they do good work.
