New stereo for my 2003 G35?

The CD player on the factory/Bose stereo stopped working (I have a 2003 G35). Dealer says he can only replace the entire unit, about $500. Has anyone else pulled their factory installed stereo and installed something else? Prior to it stopped working, the Bose system Infiniti installed provided really good sound quality, but before I spend the money, just wanted to see if anyone else has replaced it with something else.

Call Infiniti customer service, and gripe about it even if you are out of warranty you should get a discount, They know the Clarion units are poor from 1996 to today. We replaced them so much that we use to swap them out in the drive up while the customer waited. The g35 is alittle harder to replace but not after you have don`t a ton of them. You can also  call other dealers to price shop without labor. Other then the radios the Infiniti is a great product and I was proud of the customer service.
