I just bought a 2000 Chrysler Neon and trying to transfer my Pioneer headunit from my Cavalier to the Neon. I bought the wire harness and mounting adapter. All the colors match up except I have an orange wire and a blue wire on the harness left over, as well as my remote wire (blue wire on the radio harness for the amp). I got everything ready to go on the pioneer and headed down to the car, I pull the dash apart (real easy on a neon) and pulled out the factory stereo. On the back on the stereo I have 2 connections that fit the wire harness adapter and 2 that don't. The ones that don't fit, one looks similar to an s-video style connection (but not exact) the other is a very tiny connector. So I hooked up what I could with the harness adapter, but now the pioneer radio gets no power. When I hook the factory stereo back up everything works. So I guess my question is what are the other connections for that go into the factory stereo but not the harness adapter? And is this the issue?

  1. no clue

  2. Twist the red and yellow together and hook it to the blue, that should fix it, make sure its grounded.

  3. First the orange wire i believe is the dimmer for the lights, some cars have some dont. The blue one is for a power ant trigger. The s-video looking thing could be for ipod ready, or some kind of add on, What you need to do... Get a test light and see if your power is good, Yellow cable. If stock works power should be good. Then test the ground, Black. Keep tester on yellow cable and put other end on black cable. If these are good its getting power but not turning on. Next test the red cable. That is the cable that tells the radio to turn on, aka when you turn your key. Some cars if your old radio was one of the ones that stayed on after you turned car off, have the feature where they turn off after 10 min, or you open your door, dont use a norm acc (red cable). Like my wifes car Sunfire. So if this is the case, the red cable is not getting power when key is in on position, you will need to make one yourself, On my car i ran a cable to the fuse box, and picked something that turns on when i turn the car on, I used the wiper motor fuse,(first one i saw). If this does not work its the radio. or something else.

Note if you twist yellow and red cable together, it will work, but your radio will not turn off by itself. Meaning if you rush out of car, and forget to turn it off, your cars battery may die.
