Any one like to suggest pros and cons for this?

Do you think I'd cope in my first year into teaching?

Any one do this/done this- how do you feel?

Thanks.

  1. Hiya tongo, i think youre best bet would be to avertise for someone to share the costs and driving who needs to go to the same town each morning, good luck ☺

  2. buy a car with good gas milage,  you can find older cars that get 32 or more to the gallon.  toyata corrolia,  ford escort   they are out there,  also change your travel time to less congested times.  if you have to be at school for 7:30 make it in by 6:30 and enjoy a cup of coffee on the money you are saving not waiting on the road for traffic.

  3. i drive 35 miles one way to work every morning.  You get used to the drive but i spend $400.00 a month in gas.  Drive to the potential job once or twice and figure out how much it will cost to commute.  That is the only way you will be able to determine if you can afford to take the job.

  4. If you like the school and its worth the money to fight traffic I say go for it.

My wife is a school teacher in Philadelphia and she makes a similar commute from the suburbs. You should calculate the fuel + any tolls and see how much it would be a year. You also have to consider if you own or lease your car, she put 40,000K miles on our Corolla in 1 year !!!! You won't be able to do this if you lease your car. Remember, you won't be able to deduct this from your taxes because it is consider "commuting".

After a year, she is going back for more, but I think she does regret the commute, esp. if its a busy highway and there is lots of traffic. School teacher's schedules require you be there when school starts, and she really stresses out when there is an accident the slows her commute. She has to wake up at 5:00 am to get ready for her hour commute.

  5. An average speed of 38.4 MPH is going it some on ordinary roads in or near the rush hour unless you are on a motorway. I think you will need at least 1.5 hours to do that in a rush hour situation. No big deal plenty have to do that and more.

  6. You had better buy a scooter until your salary increases.

  7. well yes thats a ways to drive and im done it before but not when the gas was so high... id be thinking about a move closer
