  1. You're doing fine, good explanation.

So, let's get down to business here...

Your CABLE remote should have come with a booklet, and you should have a whole chapter on "Programming the Remote"

So, first you have to know the BRAND NAME of your TV set, you look up the TV codes of  your brand (there are usually several Different codes listed for your brand) in the cable booklet. Write them down if you have to.

Then you should also have some instructions listed at the front of that chapter that tells you HOW to program the remote to operate your TV set. You'll try one code at a time until your TV fires up, and let's the remote operate your volume control.

Now, if you DON'T have the booklet, Call your cable company, and tell them you don't have the booklet, and they will help you.  Make sure you have the TV and the cable remote near you so they can help you program it.....

  2. I don't understand.  The cable remote volume usually determines the maximum volume of your TV.  I guess it could depend on how you have your TV connected to your cable box.

What you might want to do is to turn your TV volume up as loud as it will go, then try to control the volume from your cable remote.

If that doesn't work, call your cable company and they can help you out.
