Question:

New to BBT - question about temp going up?

I am new to the concept of BBT charting and so have a question for the experts out there. If I understand correctly, normally your BBT will go down when your period is expected. My period is due today or tomorrow and my BBT went up slightly this morning (97.05 to 97.23). Does this mean anything or is that just a normal fluctuation?

  1. The book Taking CHarge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler will help you with your question.  I have used this book for both my pregnancies and am still using it to conceive #3.  Normally your temperature should drop and then you will get your period either the same day or day after.  Could be that your luteal phase is a bit longer then you originally thought or it could just be timing.  If your temps. remain high for more than 16 days you may be pregnant so watch that chart carefully.  Good luck.  Baby dust.

  2. This will vary from woman to woman. I know people who stay up all the way through AF; it will depend on how quickly the estrogen takes over dominance from the progesterone at the end of your luteal phase. I've personally had it where it drops right before AF and I've also had it where it stays up until CD3. Hard to tell! Be sure to use an online charting system. I was charting at home with paper and pen for 8 months and when I finally got around to putting the data into fertilityfriend.com, I realized I'd had it all wrong and that I ovulate on CD10 instead of CD14. Their computation systenm is very advanced and worth taking advantage of. You can still always ignore their advice if you wish :)

  3. I'm new to BBT charting too, so no expert.

But usally an increase in BBT means pregnancy! But i could be wrong.

what charting site do you use? Alot of times if you post your chart here on answers, people can figure it out for you. I'd wait till 5 days after you missed period to test. I hate the disappointment of BFN! Some tests like the ones from Early-pregnancy-test.com will give you results now if your at least 10DPO. Let us know, keep us posted! We love to hear about BFP!

    Good luck!

  4. It could be a normal fluctuation..  If it doesn't drop and you don't get your period tomorrow, then test the day after, if you don't want to risk wasting a test/seeing a negative.

If you can risk it, test tomorrow morning!
