New to a receptionist job that requires me to use a phone that has multiple lines and is used to transfer call

so i need to use that phone to transfer calls and i was just wondering if you know to do that..

so i put them on hold and then call the person, then push the line # to transfer them?

yes it really depends on the type of phone you are using. the one i use has both a "hold" button and a "start" button. i put them on hold when i need a second to do something else, but when i transfer, i push start, extension number, release. you may have to literally punch in the extension number or just a button that is assigned to the specific person's extension. might want to ask the people who have had experience with it at your work place.

depends on the type of phone on exactly how but you have the right idea, click hold and click transfer, type in # and then click join
