Question:

New to birth control, Yasmin?

So, I just started Yasmin. Now, I'm on my fourth week and while I'm waiting patiently for my period to come I have a question for my fellow Yasmin takers.

My period was 3 months apart naturally before starting the pill, I started Yasmin the day after my period ended (me and my doc. agreed it was stupid to wait 3 more months and to just start that night). I'm not really expecting to start my period, just because it seems silly that my body would adjust that quick, but I am worried about the effectiveness.

Just because I don't start my period regularly will that make me more likely to get pregnant while on the pill?

And I was hoping to get some feedback on the pill itself. =]

Thanks in advance.

  1. It should have regulated your period THIS months. So I would def take a test if you are sexually active.

  2. Usually it takes a few days from when you stop taking the active pills to when your period starts. This is because birth control pills prevent ovulation (ovaries releasing an egg). So the period is triggered by stopping the active hormones.

Use condoms as a backup method until your second month of taking Yasmin just to be safe.
