  1. The size of your boat will let you go just about any where- I enjoyed just fishing in the bay and watching the really big ships come in--Then there is the "El Toro" sailboat race across the mouth of the bay-where real sports race an 8' dingy with to much sail across the water convicts couldn't swim. If you like quieter water- the delta is fun for striper fishing. Watersking is also up just about anywhere. However the big bayliners didn't exactly jump out of the water. Take the life jackets-"got kids" find out about boat safty for toddlers. Have fun. Take sunscreen.

  2. Yes, safety first, but you are in for a great treat if you live in the SF area. You can go up the delta, there are even places to get a slip for the night.  Look at the map.  If you have time, you can take your boat up the delta all the way to Sacramento.  There are parks, islands, and probably marinas along the way.  Maybe the next question you could ask is, " Along the delta, which towns have marinas that I can stop at while going up the delta to Sacramento?"

Even if you just go out for the weekend from Alameda, you can cruise to Sausalito, Tiburon and even anchor at Angel Island.

There are some restaurants that you can pull up to in the Alameda channel.
