  1. It depends on what your horse is good at... english, western etc... Barrel racing is popular, though sometimes it causes ringbone.  You can do team penning, team sorting, breakaway roping, tie down roping... jumping, cross country, showing, games on horseback (there is a book on that too).  Just that the first girl said, the list goes on and on... just pin point what your horse is good at, and what you are good at, and take it to the next level.

  2. Wow...there are so many different competitions that you can get into.  Rodeo, Shows, Competitive Trail Riding...the list goes on and on.  I would start by evaluating what you want to start doing with your horse first, and what your riding level is.  Honestly, I don't even know where to begin...I started years ago in 4-H, so maybe go talk with your local extension agent, or go to a feed store in your area and see if there are any riding groups in your area.  Usually there are alot of clubs (yes, adults included) that just get together and ride.  You don't have to be a pro to compete, you can do play days (club only contests) and just have fun riding for awhile before diving in to competition on a large and expensive scale.  Good luck and wear your helment!
