hi, i am a newby to mountain biking ( started as a keep fit thing but now i am into going off road). i have a cheap muddy fox hardtail with rigid forks. i am looking to buy some suspension forks to make it a bit easier on the wrists. while looking on e-bay i seen some nice sus forks but i dont know if they will fit. they are 'A HEAD TRIPLE CLAMP' suspension forks. i was wondering if they would fit on a standard bike without any mods or would i need to get something differant. any cheap recomendations would be very apreciated........ THANKS

  1. Agree with above, Get a new hardtail bike

Don't get full suspension unless spending >£1000

Most important. enjoy cycling and enjoy getting muddy and wet !

  2. i would suggest, with the prices of buying a new decent fork, you could buy a decent hardtail from a reputable company.

  3. Treat yourself to a new bike.  You are clearly going to make good use of it so buy the best bike you can.  You can always sell your Muddy Fox and put the money towards the new one.  I suggest you get advice from a good bike shop as to what you need and what is within your price range.

    Have fun!

  4. As well as getting a new bike, there are a few considerations.  How long are your existing forks?  How much travel do the forks that you want to buy have?  Get this wrong and it will ruin you set up.  However, I would probably go for between 80 - 100 mm, reasoning that if the Muddy Fox needed more suspension it would have it.

Also, although the diameter of tube that your forks fit into should be the same, don't bank on it.  You might also need to saw some metal off of the fork.

My recommendation would be to go and get some advice from your bike shop.  However, I would not spend masses of money on this.  A cheep set of RSTs should work, since the Muddy Fox frame is not great.  You could do so much better.

    Luck
