New to working out!?

Hi, i just recently started working out. I lift weights, usually on the machines, but a little free weights. I was wondering, can i work out the same muscles everyday? do i have to wait a day? Sometimes i work out my pecs or arms, and the next day, they are not even sore at all so i want to work them out again, but i have been told that muscle needs time to grow back. Will it hurt my progress or slow it down if i work out the same muscles everyday? also, i really want to work out my abs everyday, but i don't want the progress to stop if the muscle hasn't grown back or something...thanks for the help

  1. It is essential that you wait at least one day after working out. If you work out the same muscles everyday the muscles will not have time to recover and they will not grow at all. So you should workout a different part of the body everyday, Shoulders, back, chest, legs, and arms.

  2. You can work out your abs everyday. As for bicep, triceps, and pecs muscles such as that need time to rest. If you work them out everyday you're doing nothing. Muscles grow by regrowth and working them out everyday is not allowing them to regrow grow. I suggest working out one muscle twice a week but the choice is yours. If you're not getting sore your not doing enough weight.

  3. My sisters boyfriend is an ameture body builder and he works on different muscle groups each day. I personally think that with legs you should workout everyother day and arms can be worked on everyday (maybe because my dad told me that lol) But I would focus on a different group of muscles each time you work out (well if you go to the gym like everyday)

  4. You need to rest musclse but to be honest if your not hurting the next day your not lifting heavy enough.

If you want to do abs, then lift free weights as all your core muscles/ abs/ obliques have to stablize you. If your doing static weights then your only working that particular muscle group. So get lifting more free weights!!!!!!

  5. You shouldn't workout the same muscle group everyday because it does more damage than good. Your muscle need time to recover. Just because they aren't sore doesn't mean they didn't get a workout. It will slow your progress or you won't see much if you workout the same muscle group everyday. When I do abs I do a different muscle group (upper, lower, etc) each time I do abs since different exercises work different things.

  6. You shouldn't work out everyday, you do have to give your muscles time to mend. You should lift every other day. When you workout it sort of breaks down the muscle you have to give that muscle time to heal or your defeat your purpose. You can't build muscle mass like that. And if you not sore after lifting then you need a little more weight to lift but not beyond pain. And with the abs thirty minutes a day should be ok. But if you don't follow a diet you can do ab work and lift and it won't do c**p. You'll have to eat healthy, and drink protein. Every now and then it won't hurt to shock your system. So if you eat junk food once in a while it shouldn't hurt you
