Should I just keep washing and drying them until the fuzz subsides? Is there a trick? I tried drying off with one and I had red fuzz all over me.

  1. When you purchase towels wash them alone in very hot water with laundry detergent and 1/2 cup of baking soda. Dry them on high until they are completly dry. Never use bleach on your towels. Bleach breaks down the fibers and causes lint. I always add baking soda to my bath towels. It makes them soft and fluffy, removes any odors. When washing towels wash just towels nothing else.

You can also add 1/2 cup of white vinegar instead of fabric softener to the rinse cycle.  Never use fabric softener with towels.

  2. Depending on the quality with towels, it will keep happening. Before I left home I bought a great set of towels, or so I thought because of the price! Well, no matter how much I washed and dried them same thing kept happening. I solved the problem by just throwing them out. Sorry for the bad news.

  3. That is not unusual - It took me 4 washing before my yellow towels did not shed their fluff.

  4. I learned from my Mom to "cure" the new towels, either bath towels or kitchen towels, and the new mop as well.  You put in water with a reasonable amount of detergent and let it stand soaking over night.  Then the next day, wash it as usual.
