Like every large city in the world or capital of a country, San Jose has a lot to offer in the way of entertainment.  A lot depends on what interests you have.  New Year's Eve is very festive as it is in cities throughout the world and San Jose, being in a Latin American country, can be more so.

"Is it a good time?"  This question is truly a philosophical one that ONLY you and "your internal workings" can answer.  On a New Year's Eve, I can be alone with my wife and still have a good time physically and spiritually!

If you plan to be in San Jose for 2008 New Year's Eve, just use common sense in what items you wear (no expensive stuff or jewelry) and what areas you go to (inquire where there are good or bad places).  Again, like everywhere else in the world, San Jose has its good and bad neighborhoods.
