  1. There is only one place to celebrate the 2008/09 New Year in Europe and that’s at the “home” of New Years Eve - Edinburgh. “Hogmanay” as it is known locally, has always been much more than an excuse to have a party for the Scots. It is more of a national festival that has to been seen to be believed. Edinburgh annually hosts the biggest New Years Eve party in Europe - and this year it is going to be massive!

PS Why all the thumbs down?

  2. I really have no idea what planet Andy is on. Crime is down 10% on last year, and is at a thirty year low. Edinburgh is great for hogmanny!

  3. Cancel your plans and go to Turkey or N. Cyprus. Weather is warm and dry and they really KNOW how to do New Year. Lived in Edinburgh all my life but won't do a Hogmanay here again.

  4. take no notice of Andy ... Edinburgh is a fantastic city and Scotland is the home of Hogmanay

  5. ine of the best places in the world ! street parts people really nice just enjoying urself really and when u hear the bells its just an amazing feeling ive been to france and london for new year nothing comes close i promise you its AMAZING !!!!

  6. its a big party, with live music(usually not to my particular taste!),its very busy, can be a bit cold n wet but generally a good atmosphere.when i was younger, new year was seen in at the tron, always gauranteed an invite to a party afterwards, was much smaller and FREE!
