New zealand dependent visa on my girl friends student visa?

hi guys please help me

my girl friend has started processing her student visa for new zealand. because our marriage date was late.Now we have registered our marriage. so can i add my name after she gets pre-visa or i have to wait till she goes there and sponsors me for spouse visa...please help me with procedure and time frame in both senarios....

Here in Australia you would have to be added BEFORE the visa is finalised.

What the rules are in New Zealand I do not know.  Maybe worth asking in the New Zealand section.
