I'm a first time mom and when it comes to diapers I go through alot because I don't like when my little girl sits in them for too long anyways what do you guys do when it comes to diapers do you let them do another before you change or do you change them right away, people say leave it for another round your wasting diapers but I don't feel that way. Usually with pee she will soak it before I change her but with number 2 that's gotta go but then I change her, then breast feed and BAM she goes again right when I change her.

  1. It depends on how much she goes..... squeeze the diaper and if it feels gelly almost then it needs to be changed. But if you feel nothing then it is fine. Change bowel movements immediately cause that could cause rashes if you don't

  2. I change newborns at least every hour.  I couldn't stand my boys being in urine and I really wasn't going to leave them in the diaper after a BM unless they were still working at it.  There were times with my boys that they would get changed before a feeding and then again shortly after a feeding but I would rather do that than let them sit in it.

  3. they can tinkle in a diaper a few times... most of the time if they are happy it is okay... but not to the point that it leaks... just be careful not to leave to long they can get diaper rash... but poopy diapers need to be changed when they are done pooping... just make sure they are done... some times it takes a few minutes...

just hang in there and do what you feel is best after all you are the one buying the diapers...

and before you know it you will get the hang of it...

I have 3 kids and it takes time, but you do get things figured out... I promise !!!

good luck with your baby !!!

  4. IF its a pee diaper feel it and if its squishy then change it. With a poo diaper change it right away after she has finished. There is no reason to let her sit in a dirty diaper until after you feed her and then change her. And trust me its all part of the newborn stage, you can change them then feed them 2 seconds later and then 2 seconds after their done eating they dirty another diaper. It happens. You are just fine with changing her when you think its needed no matter how often it is.

I've always changed my daughters' po diapers immediately after they have finished(and sometimes thought they were finished but when I put the new diaper on they really finished) but with pee diapers,I tried to spare them a tad...I didn't let them soak through or anything but I did wait until they peed at least 2 to 3 times or so.

  5. If you are going to allow the baby to go more than once when she tinkles, make sure you use an ointment (preferably Butt Paste- can be found at Walmart). It will prevent your sweety from getting a rash. Huggies, in my opinion, are the best. If your baby poops, use a warm soapy rag instead of wipes. Make sure you don't wipe too hard. Wiping hard will cause a rash. You'll find, the older your baby gets, the less pampers you will use. With the exception of when she's teething. Hope this helps.

  6. First of all, congrats on your little one!

Regarding diapers, for the first 3 weeks it seemed like we were going through lots of diapers.  I've heard that there's nothing worse that a baby with painful diaper rash.  Avoid it by changing often!  At this point, don't worry about how many you are going through.  It'll regulate soon enough.

    Good luck!!

  7. It's really up to you. Do what you are comfortable with. I change when I know she's done with number 2 or when I can feel the bottom of the diaper and it feels like a lot of pee.

  8. You will drive yourself insane if you try to change her diaper every time she does anything in them at this age, as she will just use the bathroom in little bits rather than one long go. You're best off changing her diaper once in between feedings, making sure to change the one she poos in (there's usually one pooey diaper in between most feedings). She will pee so little though and so often that she often won't wet the diaper enough for it to be considered soiled. Later on down the road, usually around the time she gets in to #2 diapers, you'll start needing to change her every time she does anything (the good news is you won't have to change her as often though).

Think of it this way. Do you get diaper rash when you wear sanitary napkins? You don't because you change them every few hours and they're so absorbent you stay pretty dry the entire time. The same is true for diapers because they're actually made very similar and out of the same exact material that sanitary napkins are, only with a LOT more of the stuff that turns to gel when wet so that the wetness doesn't seep back through through a layer of porous, cloth-like plastic.

  9. I would think that changing her diaper every 2-3 hours for pee is okay. Of course change it right away for anything else.

It's not going to hurt for her to stay in it for 2-3 hours. If you are worried about diaper rash, then let her go free for 10 minutes between each change, just put her on a waterproof pad so she doesn't wet the bed or floor in case she pees.

  10. I change my 4 month old constantly. Even if he only pees a little bit, I still change him. I don't think it's good to keep them in a wet or soiled diaper. They could easily get a rash. Yes you use a lot of diapers, but it is what it is. You have to do whatever it takes to keep your baby happy

  11. I know they tell you to change them before and after a feed when you are in the hospital, but to be honest, if my kids weren't overly wet, I would wait until after they were done feeding.  WIth a number 2, however, I'd change straight away.  My daughter had very sensitive skin, so we found if we didn't change her quickly enough, nappy rash would develop within minutes!

  12. well when my daughter was born even if she was barley wet she would cry until we changed her. so almost every time she cried we would change her diaper. i would do what ever you feel like doing. if you feel ok doing this then keep doing what you want. don't do what everyone says. just do what you want to do.

  13. It won't be like that for long. Let me guess, you're baby is a new born, huh? My son would p**p like that. Every hour it seemed. But soon enough it won't be that often and you won't feel like your changing diapers each time you blink your eyes. BUT I did wait about ten minutes after I heard him going. Because back then- it took him a while to be done...  : (  sorry TMI !!!
