My 6 day old daughter sleeps allll day...and she wakes up to feed regularly, and sometimes I have to wake her up, but once she is done she goes right back to sleep...I feel like I am drugging her with breastmilk! Is this normal and when should I expect some change?

  1. Totally normal.  She is only 6 days old.  My Son did that as well, he is 5 weeks now and just now starting to stay up more.  Newborns will sleep on average around 16-20 hrs. a day.  They wake up to get changed, feed and then back to sleep.  There is not much more for a newborn to do.  And sleep at this point is VERY important for proper brain development.

  2. My son is the same way! He's a little piglet lol the only time he wakes up is when he's hungry or needs a diapee change, people have told me to enjoy it now cause in a couple months they won't want to go to sleep, I guess we shall see :)

  3. thats normal, at that age they can sleep for up to 20 hours a day! enjoy it now because it wont last long :)

  4. It's cool that we had our children at the same time, and we moved from questions in the pregnancy category to newborn, lol. But any how, my son is a week old today and does the same thing! I think it's completely normal, though I can't seem to remember if my daughter did it too, it's been so long since she was his age. Enjoy it while it lasts, it will be gone all too soon!
