Ok I am looking after my cousins house while shes away

she has they cats, the mum cat, and two daughters, the daughters are 1 year old and they have BOTH just had kittens, a black litter that has 4 and a tabby litter that has 3

last night I noticed a tabby missing searched the house and its no where to be seen so i thought she moved it, went back today and all the tabbys were gone I looked upstairs and in the wardrobe was both litters mixed together crying, but that 1 tabby still missing.

the daughters came upstairs, the tabbys mum tried feeding them all but cried. the black litters mum didnt want to know, then THEIR mum came up and cleaned them all.

the daughters looked confused there babies were their so is it possible their mum moved both the litters? and what could of happened to that one tabby, both litters are only 2 - 4 days old

  1. take the kittens and cats in for you to take care of. obviously they are doing something strange. so maybe if you take them in you will be able to take care of them and watch what they are doing instead of being concerned and wondering.

A big responsibility for you looking after your cousins house and the cats and kittens.  Another answerer has suggested taking them to your home and this would be a good idea if you can.  Also to call a vet for advice and to check on them.

No other ideas I'm afraid; my old cat never had kittens so I've never had these problems.

    Good luck !

  3. did she know they were pregnant? call your local vet they may need to be checked over.

  4. i am sorrry to say it but she may have killed it as the litter she has had may be to much for her to cope with as she is still a kitten herself keep an eye on her and watch to see if she moves any more and follow her quietly to see where she goes or she may have hid it to feed it just watch out for her

  5. try to watch where the mum goes she may have moved the kitten and be feeding just the one if she is not dealing with motherhood well, I had two cats that gave birth close together once and one took care of all the kittens (7) while my other cat just hid on top of a cupboard. Go quietly from room to room you may hear the kitten crying somewhere. It may have died if it has not been fed as they need the milk to keep them warm.

These cats need spaying as soon as they stop feeding these kittens. They shouldn't be left like this to keep dropping litters.
