Manchester City were in good touch against Newcastle as they got two early goals against the Magpies in the first five minutes of the game. The win would go a long way towards restoring the confidence of the team, which would have been shaken after the defeat

Newcastle goalkeeper, Tim Kurl, was partly to blame for the first goal. Kurl was looking to find a Newcastle player but ended up gifting the ball to Carlos Tevez. The Argentine wasted no time and played an inch perfect pass across to Barry who made a good
run in the box and calmly put it in between the legs of the goalkeeper. It took only 3 more minutes for Tevez to get in action once again.

City continued to dominate the match as Newcastle did their best to get back in the game. Predictably, it was Andy Carroll who got the goal for Newcastle. The young striker made a good run into the box, and was there in time to head in the corner from Barton
to make it 2-1.
The home team looked to be getting back in the game to some degree, but, once again, in search of a goal they committed too many men forward and were caught on the break. It was Carlos Tevez who initiated the move yet again. The striker sent the ball through
