Newcastle United reportedly requested a loan deal for former striker Andy Carroll a year and a half after he moved to Anfield in a shocking £35 million move.
The weekend was full of rumours regarding Andy Carroll’s future as a Liverpool player, with reports suggesting that former club Newcastle are interested in bringing him back to Tyneside on a season-long deal.
Other reports suggest that Newcastle are hoping to convert the loan deal into a permanent one sometime in the future. This leaves the player’s future at Anfield tainted with uncertainty, especially after the arrival of new boss Brendan Rodgers. Rodgers apparently
does not see Carroll fit into his free-flowing passing system which he had so successfully implemented with Swansea City.
Rodgers is also thought to be keen on offloading the striker to raise further funds for building a squad that would fit into his passing system and football philosophy. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 may undergo a major squad overhaul and Carroll could be the first ‘big name’
to depart.
Carroll, who left Newcastle in the winter transfer window of the 2010/2011 season failed to replicate the form that had seen him rise as an exciting new English striker, with many comparing him to former Magpies great http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Shearer.
Sources in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 suggest that Newcastle offered to pay part of the striker’s £80,000-a-week wages, with a view to a permanent deal.
Liverpool however turned Newcastle’s loan offer down, and it is understood that the Reds prefer a sale right away rather than a loan move for Carroll. West Ham United have been linked to the tall forward in an attempt to reunite him with former captain Kevin
Nolan following the Hammers return to the Premier League.
AC Milan are another club who are interested in Carroll as they are keen to replace departing striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 as soon as possible.
It came as a surprise to many when Newcastle made the move for Carroll, considering how well equipped they are in the attacking department. With the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 and Papiss Demba Cisse present in the squad, it is difficult to see where the Three Lions
International will fit in and how he will compete for a first team spot.
