Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew defends Andre Villas-Boas ahead of Chelsea clash
Newcastle United manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew revealed he did not believe Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas was under pressure. The Magpies boss spoke ahead of his side’s clash with the Blues on Saturday, which will determine which side occupies the fourth place
on the English Premier League table.
Chelsea are currently not doing too well, having lost three out of their last four fixtures in all competitions and were recently dumped out of the Carling Cup competition by Liverpool. Similarly, they have been in poor form in the Premier League.
After defeats to Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 find themselves in fifth position on the Premier League table and no longer seem title contenders. If they wish to return to winning ways they have to start winning their upcoming fixtures.
However, that will not be easy as they face Newcastle United at home in their first fixture of December. While Pardew was sympathetic towards the young Portuguese manager, he did not think Villas-Boas was under any more pressure as compared to any other
Premier League manager.
Pardew said while speaking to reporters:
“They are having a tough spell but they have had them before. His side is filled with icons of the Premier League, fantastic players, and they will come here and put their reputations on the line.”
The Newcastle United boss was certain the Blues would pull through, as they had done in the past. In the past the Blues have had worse spells, but like all the other top four sides they have always managed to fight towards the end and retain their spot in
the top four.
Pardew admitted Villas-Boas was young and relatively inexperienced and that it was difficult for him to make changes to such a strongly integrated squad. However, after seeing him with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 last season, Pardew was certain the current Blues boss would
manage just fine.
He revealed:
“The new manager has got a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 where he is trying to put changes in and that is always very, very difficult with an established group like they are. But I think he will get that right.”
