Pardew has expressed his delight over Newcastle United’s efforts against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men, stating that the Magpies deserved a point at Old Trafford.
“We deserved it [the point] on a number of fronts I would say." He said.
Newcastle United, who have the best defensive record in the ongoing 2011/12 Barclays Premier League season, managed to contain Manchester United in the first forty-five minutes.
The Toons’ manager hailed his team’s first half performance and added:
“One was the positive outlook we had on the game, especially in the first half where I thought we played really well and contained the ball and caused Man United problems.”
Pardew believes that Newcastle United’s second half performance was even better. The Magpies levelled the score after going down in the starting minutes of the half. Moreover, the visitors gave an absolutely spotless defensive display to clinch a crucial
point at Old Trafford.
“I don’t even know where to start with the second half, it was all going off but heroic defending. I think the attitude and our defending probably deserved a point. The heroism in that box was unbelievable. It was a fantastic game and a great advert for
the Premier League. They were Geordie heroes. They really were,” Alan Pardew concluded.
With the draw against Manchester United, Newcastle United are now placed fourth in the league standings, having recorded 26 points from 13 games.
