Newcastle United should take confidence from their defeat at Manchester City, says Alan Pardew - EPL News
Newcastle United boss, Alan Pardew, believes that the Magpies should take positives from their recent 3-1 defeat against league leaders, Manchester City, at Etihad Stadium.
Newcastle United’s impressive 11-match unbeaten run in the Premier League came to a disappointing end after Roberto Mancini’s men recorded a comfortable victory against the Tyneside club last weekend.
Alan Pardew’s side did well to contain the high flying Manchester City in the first forty minutes of the match and also had few good opportunities to take the lead. Despite conceding two goals late into the first half, Newcastle United hugely impressed in
the second half as they came very close to levelling the score before http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero scored the third.
The Toons’ boss has hailed his side’s efforts against the Citizens and was proud with the performances put in by the Magpies players at Etihad Stadium.
Newcastle United are set to face reigning English champions, Manchester United, in the next Premier League outing. Pardew believes there is no point dwelling on the negatives from the recent loss and want his players to give their best at Old Trafford.
“We can take confidence that we were level for 40 minutes and then matched them in the second half. You can get negative on yourself, but you could see in the dressing room there is genuine belief and in the second half, we were hunting that next goal. We
knew it would be crucial and if we had got it, suddenly it could have been very different.”
Pardew singled out http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hatem-Ben-Arfa-c15884 for praise after the Frenchman hugely impressed in his first start after returning from a broken leg, which he suffered in the same fixture one year ago.
The Magpies manager is happy to have Ben Arfa back and said:
“He did some great stuff up front for us, but look at his work at the other end [of the pitch], too. He gave me energy and that extra quality. Hopefully, he can take us forward.”
After experiencing their first defeat of the season, Newcastle United are currently placed fourth in the table with 25 points from 12 matches.
