Newcastle United sign Liverpool target http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sylvain-Marveaux-c34432 on a five year deal
Newcastle United have completed the signing of Sylvain Marveaux right from under Premier League rivals Liverpool’s nose.
The Reds had reportedly come to an agreement with the 25-year-old French midfielder, who was set to undergo a medical at Anfield before completing the deal.
However, it seems Newcastle United have beaten the Reds to signing the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 under-21 international, reports reveal.
Marveaux seems to have agreed to a deal with the Magpies, and will be completing his move to St James’ Park on 1st July for an undisclosed fee.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 were quick to claim the midfielder had failed the medical test, which is why they had not signed him.
However, Marveaux rejected the claims made by Liverpool about a failed medical test, insisting he was perfectly fit.
Marveaux said while speaking to reporters:
“I do not want to go into details, but if I have not signed for Liverpool, it was because there was a contractual disagreement between the parties involved.
Today, I can undergo a medical before you and you will see there is no problem.”
Meanwhile, Newcastle United manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew revealed he was extremely pleased with having signed Marveaux.
Pardew said:
“It's a great coup to have signed Sylvain, who has received interest from a number of other clubs.
He may not be well known to many of our fans, but he is a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 talent and a player we have been keeping an eye on for some time.
It's been a good couple of days for us on the transfer front.”
Marveaux will be guaranteed a regular spot in the starting line-up, since the Magpies recently lost their skipper Kevin Nolan to relegated side West Ham United.
Marveaux began his senior career with Ligue 1 side Rennes in 2006, after spending four years with the Rennes youth academy.
After signing a three year contract with the French outfit, Marveaux got off to a good start, making 32 appearances in his first two seasons at the club.
In his third season, the midfielder picked up a hamstring injury because of which he had to undergo surgery and only managed 6 appearances during the 2008-2009 season.
The 2009-2010 season went by relatively smoothly, as Marveaux made 38 appearances in all competitions, scored 12 goals and provided 5 assists.
Unfortunately for him, he picked up a groin injury the very next season and spent the better part of the 2010-2011 season sidelined.
He has supposedly recovered since then and will be joining the English Premier League with Newcastle United in July.
