Newcastle United signs Yven Moyo
Newcastle United has signed French youngster Yven Moyo on a four-year contract.
The 18-year-old midfielder had been on trial with the club looking to secure a permanent contract. Moyo had been linked with a number of other clubs including Manchester United and Bordeaux.
"He's very much one for the future. He's a lad who came on trial and showed enough to earn himself a contract.
It will benefit him working with our development group and it is something that we will continue to do," said Newcastle boss Chris Hughton.
The Frenchman has a number of qualities that should see him settle down at the club quickly. It's important Hughton handles the player in the right way as he's still physically
developing.
Playing qualities
Moyo's biggest quality seems to be his vision. He can play accurate passes over long distances. This will make him a creative player in the Newcastle midfield and he will
be expected to make many chances.
His pace and fitness looks very good. The manager has praised the way Moyo has reacted since he's been at the club. This includes training with the first team where he
would have been tested against some very strong and fit players.
The only worry with this move is that Hughton will have to offer the player extra protection. There will be times when Moyo needs cover in the central areas. Hughton may
be forced to play a big defensive player near Moyo to stop him being bullied on the pitch.
"We are looking at France as a very good market to pick up players, as many
other clubs are, but it is not just there. We are casting our net much wider but it is all positive for the future of the club," added Hughton.
Betting advice
Don't expect too much from Moyo early on in his Newcastle career. He is a very talented young player that will need time to settle into Premier League life. However, if
he does play then he promises to get into attacking positions, which will give him scoring chances.
