Newcastle United’s Joey Barton impressed with his team’s overall display – EPL news
Newcastle United midfielder, Joey Barton, has praised his side for putting up a brave show during the ongoing 2010/11 campaign. He has credited the Toons outfit for putting up a terrific show after going down to the Championship football a couple of years
back.
Barton reckoned that finishing somewhere in the mid table is a good thing especially for a side who had been going through several injuries and controversies. The 28-year-old confirmed that most important thing for him was to survive this year’s English
Premier League and he believed that his teammates have worked extremely hard in order to achieve the feat.
He also urged his side not to relax and go out hard in the remaining couple of games. Barton admitted that the Andy Carroll’s injury in the earlier part of the season and his subsequent departure to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 are the worst things the club had to suffer this
season. He mentioned that both the players and the officials were left disappointed at Carroll’s transfer but did salute the players who stood firm in that time of difficulty.
He further added, “The most important thing for me was to achieve Premier League survival with a group of players at Newcastle United. Whether that was with myself playing well or Kevin Nolan, or Shola Ameobi, whoever it’s been the lads have been there all
through the season, and when myself or certain other individuals have been off the boil there’s been a team group to fall back and catch us.”
The former Manchester City player insisted that everyone at St. James’ Park has been a team player and they place for each other. He clearly stated that Newcastle would come out as a stronger and different unit the next season and will surely have some definite
targets in their minds.
He also cleared that there are a host of midfielders in the Premier League who are much better than him and denied any speculations which quoted him to be the best midfielder.
Newcastle are currently 11th in the League table with 44 points and will next be in action against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on Sunday, May 15.
