19-year old Australian defender Curtis Good has been granted a work permit which allows him to seal his move from Melbourne Heart to English Premier League side Newcastle United.
Curtis Good will fly to England in the coming days having completed the final stumbling block in his path.
After obtaining a work permit, the youngster will officially sign a contract with the Magpies and complete a medical. Good is expected to link up with Newcastle’s first team squad and is also understood to be highly regarded by manager Alan Pardew.
The young defender trailed with the club in June for over a week and impressed manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew to the extent the manager considered signing him permanently.
The player’s transfer was subject to a transfer fee that had to be agreed between both clubs and the granting of a work permit. Having done both, the defender is on his way to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
Melbourne Heart’s football operations manager John Didulica had this to say about the situation:
"Newcastle formally wrote to us and they were extremely positive about Curtis' time there and him as a person and that reflects well on the club and the A-League."
Melbourne Heart’s manager John Aloisi was full of praise for the youngster and wished him luck in the future.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for Curtis. Newcastle United is one of the biggest clubs in the United Kingdom, and we are absolutely delighted he has the opportunity to test his wares on such a stage.”
"We wish Curtis well and hope he will one day return to don the red and white stripes of our club."
Good is a left-footed defender and for a 19-year old, he is pretty comfortable on the ball. He had only just signed a professional contract with Heart in February 2011 and stood out in his first ever professional season.
The youngster managed 24 A-League appearances for Melbourne Heart during the 2011/2012 season. Good’s move to Newcastle cost the club AU$600,000.
Newcastle United are understood to be on the brink of landing French full-back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Debuchy-c24682 and Marseille’s striker Loic Remy. Good is officially the third Newcastle signing of the summer.
Club captain Fabricio Coloccini is eagerly awaiting new signings at the club and will be more than happy to take the young Australian defender under his wing.
