Newcastle coach Alan Tait fumes over indiscipline
Newcastle’s head coach Alan Tait has stated that his side needs to cut out their indiscipline if they are going to win games.
The Falcons coach was unhappy with the number of penalties his side conceded in their 32-8 defeat to Montpellier in the European Challenge Cup on Thursday, October 14.
Speaking to BBC Newcastle, Tait said, "I keep saying this week in, week out. We'll have a look at the video and see if it's individuals, but we've been at the wrong end of discipline again."
Montpellier’s Benoit Paillaugue kicked six penalties as the French side ran out easy winners.
Tait was forced to field an inexperienced side and he hopes the players will learn from the encounter.
"It's a great stadium, you're playing in France against one of the Top 14 sides, and they’re doing well in the French league."
"At least the guys have come out here and felt the atmosphere and found out what it's all about," added the former Scottish international.
The Falcons coach hopes his side can avenge the defeat in the return game.
"I'm really looking forward to this team coming back to Kingston Park because I said to the guys afterwards, 'Would you be afraid to play them?' and they all said 'we're desperate to play [this team] again next time at Kingston Park, we'll be waiting for
them."
The Newcastle coach believes his side can improve if they cut out the penalty errors. A number of players should return and Tait believes that this will help his team.
"We've got seven days to get ready for Saracens, and they don't come any tougher. They're full of stars."
"We know it's going to be a tough battle, we'll get up for it, and hopefully we'll have a few players back fit and healthy next weekend."
