Newcastle United have been dealt a fresh injury blow as defender Ryan Taylor suffered a knee injury in last night’s Europa League victory against Atromitos.
Manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew revealed his concern regarding Taylor and fears that the player may be out on the sidelines for a while. The versatile left back was stretchered off in the dying minutes of the game after landing awkwardly during a headed challenge.
The manager will find comfort in the fact that Newcastle have progressed through to the group stages after beating Atromitos in a 1-0 score line. The Magpies dominated the first half and took the lead from Haris Vuckic’s long range effort which found the
back of the net after just 21 minutes.
Pardew’s team had been the better of the two over the two legs and deservedly went through for a draw in the group stages of the competition.
The manager had made seven changes to the squad, and despite the absence of star player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hatem-Ben-Arfa-c15884, they went on to demonstrate the ‘attacking flair’ Pardew had demanded ahead of the game.
Newcastle did however fade out of the game in the second half, but did just enough to grab a victory and advance further into the European competition.
Taylor’s injury however will be seen as a major hurdle in Newcastle’s season, and the manager admitted that he may be forced to dive back into the transfer market to sign a player before the window closes at midnight.
The Magpies have been relatively quiet in the summer transfer market so far, despite being linked to a number of major players. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vurnon-Anita-c36486 remains the only major signing of the summer for the club so far, but they did sign a number of young players such
as Gael Bigirimana and Romain Amalfitano.
Speaking about the situation, Pardew said:
“It just goes to show you the pressure of competition as it looks like Ryan Taylor has suffered a bad knock today. So I'll have to speak to the chairman tonight and we might have to think about bringing a player in on the back of that injury.”

"Unfortunately when you get these games these type of things happen to you. I feel sorry for Ryan because he's a terrific player and I really hope it’s not as bad as we fear."
